ICT as Informative technology
DISCOVER THE BEST
Khan Academy
In today’s digital age, the integration of information
and communication technology in education has transformed how students’ access
and absorb information. Among various ICT tools, Khan Academy stands out as a
powerful informative tool that supports learning across diverse subjects.
Khan Academy is a free, web-based educational platform offering
instructional videos, interactive exercises, and learning resources. It was
founded by Salman Khan in 2008 with the mission to provide a free, world-class
education for anyone, anywhere. The platform covers subjects like mathematics,
science, economics, history and more and widely used by students, teachers and
parents around the globe.
Khan Academy can be integrated into teaching and learning in several effective ways. Teachers can assign Khan Academy videos as homework and use class time for hands-on activities or discussions. Moreover, students can explore topics at their own pace, allowing for personalized learning experiences. It can be used to reinforce classroom lessons or provide additional support for struggling learners. Furthermore, teachers can track student’s progress through the dashboard and identify areas that need more attention. Likewise, during school closures or in blended learning environments, Khan Academy serves as a valuable resource for continuous learning.
What i love most about Khan Academy is the simplicity and clarity of it's videos. The explanations are calm and focused, and the visuals help make complex ideas easier to grasp. It's like having someone walk you through a tough concept, one small step at a time without making you feel overwhelmed. As a students myself during those high school and middle school, i have experienced myself how i would light up when i realize we can explore topics on our own and at our own pace. It encourages independence and builds confidence especially for us who struggle to speak up in a traditional classroom.
In the end, i see Khan Academy as a strong support like helpful guide walking beside the teacher, not in place of them. It's best used to supplement teaching, offer revision and empower students to take charge of their journey.
Likewise a video can serve as a informative tool. Forinstance, i have made a video on the Nyangrel lhakhang of my village. For those who don't know about this lhakhang will get an information through this video. The video on Nyangrel Lhakhang can serve as an informative tool by providing viewers with cultural, historical, and spiritual insights about the sacred site. It highlights the origins of the lhakhang, the legendary journey of Lama Nang, and the religious significance of the phurba and holy water. By showcasing the village of Nangar and the annual celebration held by the locals, the video helps preserve and share Bhutanese heritage, educating both locals and outsiders about the importance of the site in Bumthang’s spiritual landscape.
